About the Role

Derbyshire County Council is seeking a dedicated Social Care Professional to join the Children with Disabilities Service in the Amber Valley team. As a caring and determined individual, you will have the opportunity to use your skills and experience to genuinely improve outcomes for children and young people.

The position is within a busy social work team with an experienced and committed group of colleagues, supported by a highly competent Practice Supervisor and experienced Team Manager.

We are looking for motivated and dedicated applicants who can demonstrate a passion for working with vulnerable individuals within society and making a difference to children and families.

What You Will Be Doing?

Your role will involve a range of tasks linked to social work practice in the locality, including:

  • Parenting assessments
  • Supporting family time
  • Direct work with children
  • Supporting plans for children and families
  • Engaging with other agencies and partner organisations

Key Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Care or equivalent, or willing to work towards once in post (refer to job and person profile for more information)
  • Experience of creating rapport and building effective relationships with families
  • Knowledge of Child Protection, child development and parenting abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent assessment and IT skills

Salary and Benefits

This role attracts a starting salary of £27,507 per annum, with annual increments to £29,418 pro rata. In addition to a competitive salary, you will also receive a diverse range of benefits, including:
