About The Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the OCS Group (UK) Ltd team as an Environmental Operations Specialist. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our waste management services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislative requirements and procedural requirements.
  • Operate company vehicles in accordance with the UK Road Traffic Act 1988 and Road Safety Act 2006.
  • Ensure all issued personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn correctly at all times and report any issues to your line manager.
  • Use mobile devices for recording work and patrols undertaken.
  • Report defects and reactive jobs that could lead to accidents.
  • Communicate effectively with the control room and site team using two-way radio equipment.
  • Participate in site emergency management plans, including fire evacuation procedures.
  • Identify areas for improvement and inform the site supervisor or management team.
Waste Management Responsibilities:
  • Collect waste from the rear of units at designated times.
  • Collect bulk recycling waste (cardboard and poly/soft plastics) from lift lobbies throughout the day or upon request.
  • Ensure full glass and food bins are placed in the undercroft service road daily and collected from the back of units on collection day.
  • Properly segregate general waste and dispose of it in the service road compactor.
  • Store cardboard and poly waste neatly in the holding area until bailed, then stack on pallets and store.
  • Remove and dispose of bulk refuse in the correct skip.
  • Operate forklifts around loading bays, remove recyclable materials and bins, and support site teams where necessary.
  • Sort waste by hand or machine and remove recyclable items, inspecting materials for contamination.
  • Use and operate waste compacting equipment (bailer and compactor).
  • Store recyclable and hazardous waste in the correct receptacles.
  • Ensure the service roads are clear of refuse at all times.
  • Keep the loading bay clean and tidy, free of spillages, and machine wash weekly.
  • Ensure each unit has the correct number of recycling and refuse bins.
  • Steam clean general and food waste bins and floors weekly.

  • Ability to manage time effectively to complete tasks to a high level.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety standards in our industry.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to use machinery, including jet washers, bailers, and compactors.
  • Gain forklift license through training provided.
  • Flexibility to work on early and late shifts.
