The successful candidate will have a practical knowledge of ecology, horticulture, biodiversity, and grounds maintenance, and will be responsible for shaping the future of the borough's green spaces through design, strategy, and direct service delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain the borough's parks and open spaces, including Mote Park and other Green Flag parks.
- Develop and implement strategies for the management and maintenance of the borough's green spaces, including budget and project management.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including residents, local businesses, and other council departments.
- Lead a team of staff responsible for grounds maintenance and management, including horticulture and ecology specialists.
- Ensure the borough's parks and open spaces are safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all users.
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as horticulture, landscape management, or landscape conservation.
- Extensive experience of green space and landscape management, including practical experience of horticulture and landscape techniques.
- Experience of budget and project management, including managing teams and resources.
- Excellent communication and management skills, with the ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
- Ability to motivate and develop a positive team culture.
- Highly flexible hybrid working opportunities.
