Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician Job Description

We are looking for an experienced HGV Technician/HGV Trailer Technician to join our team in Glasgow, Lanarkshire. This role involves a range of responsibilities including inspections, servicing, and repairs of trailers to company standards.

Salary: £42,000 - £56,000 per annum

About the Position:

This is a full-time permanent position that requires the ability to travel to various locations throughout the region. You will need to ensure that any use of company vehicles complies with legal road traffic guidelines.

Key Tasks:

  1. Perform inspections, servicing, and repairs of trailers to company standards.
  2. Travel around local areas to conduct work at various places.
  3. Maintain and repair Heavy Goods trailers of the company assets (primarily trailers) and its customers' own assets at customer sites/VMUs/workshops or roadside.
  4. Ensure any use of company vehicles is done within legal road traffic guidelines.
  5. Complete all job cards and compliance paperwork to the highest standard ensuring nothing is missed.
  6. Provide excellent customer service whilst working on/off site.
  7. Complete ongoing training where necessary.
  8. Welding may be required – if experienced/qualified to do so.

Requirements:

  • Must have a Level 3 qualification with Heavy Good Vehicles (ideally with experience working with trailers), or be time served as a HGV Technician or Trailer Technician.
  • Experience with Welding preferable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of computers required.
  • Ability to understand and complete written paperwork required.
  • Ability to work on double deck trailers preferable but not essential.
