Governance Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Governance Director to join our team at NHS. As a key member of our corporate governance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our organization operates in accordance with the highest standards of corporate governance.
Main Responsibilities- Corporate Governance Support: Provide high-quality support to the Head of Corporate Governance and Trust Secretary in establishing, maintaining, and ensuring that our corporate governance function is performed to the highest standards.
- Meeting Coordination: Coordinate the drafting and collation of meeting agendas, papers, reports, and updates for distribution to Board Committees, Executive Management Committee, Board meetings, and Board Seminars.
- Minute Taking: Take high-quality, succinct minutes of Board, Board Sub-Committee, and Executive Management Committee meetings, ensuring that proceedings and resolutions are properly recorded.
- Regulatory Compliance: Assist the Head of Governance in reviewing and analyzing constitutional and regulatory documents to ensure that all Board and Executive processes remain up to date and compliant with changes in policy and legislation.
- Communication and Liaison: Be a point of contact for Trust staff, the wider community, and external partners, providing advice on corporate governance policies, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
As a Governance Director, you will also be responsible for leading and managing the Executive PA team, ensuring that they provide high-quality administrative support to the Chief Executive and Executive Directors.
- Team Leadership: Monitor performance against the Service Operating Agreement (SOA) to ensure the optimal management and leadership of the service.
- Staff Development: Hold regular 1-1 and team meetings for horizon scanning, identify and problem-solve issues, coordinate annual leave, and plan workload effectively.
- Communication and Information Sharing: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Chief Executive's office, leading on and coordinating communication and information sharing with the Chief Executive and Executive Directors.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Previous experience of effective line management skills, including staff appraisals and development.
- Strong knowledge of corporate governance principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
