About the Role

At esure, we're committed to safeguarding our customers' data and ensuring compliance with the latest regulations. As our Data Protection Manager, you'll play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining our data protection framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UK GDPR and other regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential data protection risks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure cohesive data protection practices and provide training on data protection best practices.
  • Assist in responding to data breaches, including investigation, remediation, and reporting.
  • Perform DPIAs and privacy risk assessments for new projects and systems.
  • Conduct legitimate interest assessments and maintain balancing tests for LIAs.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and serve as a contact for data protection-related matters.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate data protection risks through effective risk management.
  • Assist with audits and produce compliance reports to ensure data protection standards are met.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Law, or related field; advanced degree or GDPR & IAPP CIPP/E and/or CIPM certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience in privacy and data protection, ideally in financial services; strong knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, PECR, and ICO guidance.
  • Track record of managing and implementing privacy programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong skills in leading cross-functional initiatives and driving results.
  • Ability to compose accurate and concise reports/updates.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Pragmatic commercial judgment in assessing risks and business responses.
  • Confident presenter to management-level audiences.
  • Effective understanding of IT concepts relevant to privacy; high IT competence.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team, with limited guidance.
