Commodities Risk Manager

Hudson River Trading is seeking a highly skilled Commodities Risk Manager to join our team in New York City. As a key member of our Risk team, you will be responsible for designing, improving, managing, and communicating market and liquidity risk for commodities instruments and strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Implement Risk Controls: Develop and implement new risk controls for commodities trading strategies that effectively manage market, operational, funding, and liquidity risk without disrupting trading activity.
- Strategy Evaluation and Onboarding: Understand and advise senior management on the nuances of proposed new commodities strategies, investigate and onboard new strategies, assess their risk profile, and make recommendations on both the suitability and feasibility of any new strategies for the firm.
- Risk Analysis and Modeling: Analyze historical measures to calibrate thresholds, design and build risk models to reflect the idiosyncrasies of commodities products, and monitor market, operational, and liquidity risk.
- Collaboration and Communication: Partner with operations and execution trading teams to investigate and resolve risk limit breaches, collaborate with Operations to develop and implement new risk monitoring tools, and evaluate bespoke trading opportunities.
- Tactical Projects: Work on tactical projects with Finance, Operations, and Engineering to drive business growth and improvement.
- 7+ years of experience as a risk manager covering commodities in an investment bank, hedge fund, or asset manager.
- Strong understanding of the commodities landscape, including futures and physical trading, as well as relative value hedge fund strategies.
- B.S. in mathematics, physics, economics, computer science, electrical engineering, or statistics.
- Working knowledge of Python, Linux, and SQL.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
