The Role

As a Fibre Optical Systems Engineer, you will be part of a team that delivers work packages related to novel laser and optical systems. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in High-Energy Laser systems through training provided by the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, developing, and deploying optical systems
  • Undertaking technical tasks related to High-Energy Laser development and test & evaluation
  • Engaging with stakeholders
  • Travelling to trial sites across the UK
  • Providing input into large projects as part of a team of subject matter experts
  • Leading technical projects

This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week, based at our Farnborough, Hampshire site. Flexible working arrangements are available.

Essential Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of optical fibres and fibre components
  • Practical experience designing, developing, and assembling optical fibre systems
  • Robust understanding of laser and optical physics
  • Experience of working with laboratory test and measurement equipment/instrumentation
  • Awareness of laser safety practices

Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field
