As a Hospital Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of Mental Health Community Services.
Job Description
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Staffordshire area, supporting the Chief Technician in the establishment and management of care pathways for community service users. You will also support the Medicines Management Technical team at St George's hospital.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on medicines optimisation to ensure safe use and meets safety, statutory and governance requirements.
- Act as first point of contact for medicines management issues for community mental health teams.
- Work autonomously, planning and delivering own workload, agreeing deadlines with Chief Technician.
- Provide professional advice on safe prescribing, handling and administration of medicines.
- Rotate between hospital wards and community services.
- Perform medicines reconciliation on admission to hospital and on discharge as necessary.
- Provide medication counselling to promote self-management and independence with medication.
- Ensure seamless pathway from in-patient to out-patient.
- Support development of comprehensive medicines optimisation service to wards and clinics.
- Promote safe, legal, rational and economic use of medicines by all users of pharmacy service.
Benefits
This full-time position offers a competitive salary of £28,000 - £34,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including generous maternity and paternity leave, flexible working options and extensive health and wellbeing support.
