Job Overview: We are looking for a talented individual to join our team as a Discretionary Fund Advisor. This role will involve working closely with applicants and professionals from external agencies to deliver the work of the Derbyshire Discretionary Fund efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake thorough and consistent assessments of applications to the Derbyshire Discretionary Fund (DDF).
  • Carry out investigations into applications, liaising with applicants and professionals from external agencies.
  • Administer the process of successful applications, ensuring prompt and accurate awards/payments are made.
  • Maintain accurate records of applicants' data.
  • Provide guidance and support regarding DDF processes to applicants and Council staff.
  • Assist in the briefing/training of staff in other teams/departments about the DDF.
  • Stay up-to-date with national welfare benefits legislation and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience: A level, or level 3 qualification in a relevant area, and minimum 12 months recent experience in a similar role. Broad administration or finance experience, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
