The newly created Senior Fees Clerk role is part of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive. This key position oversees the development and leadership of a proactive and professional Fees Team, successfully managing fee-related functions.

The role involves shaping strategy, streamlining processes, and ensuring smooth revenue operations. The ideal candidate will drive success through effective leadership, focusing on process and delivery, while fostering collaboration and communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Fees Team, setting clear goals, driving performance, and fostering accountability and growth.
  • Implement cutting-edge billing systems, optimise workflows, and stay ahead of industry advancements for enhanced efficiency.
  • Manage all billing and fee collection activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and robust reporting for high-value cases.
  • Develop points of contact for fee-related matters, building strong relationships with barristers, clients, and teams across Chambers.
  • Analyse revenue trends and performance metrics, providing strategic recommendations to Chambers' leadership.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A proven track record of managing high-performing teams, with strong strategic and operational skills.
  • Knowledge of billing, collections, and financial reporting within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Success in implementing system improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Confident, professional, and diplomatic in managing sensitive issues and building relationships at all levels.
  • 7+ years in senior billing or financial operations roles, ideally in a Chambers setting - familiarity with legal aid billing and public funding processes would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency with case management software (e.g., Chambers Lex) and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
