Project Overview:

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer to join their team as a Project Management Consultant (PMC) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade/expansion of petrochemical facilities in India. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Mechanical Engineering discipline and ensuring that all work is performed to agreed standards for safety, health, and environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee and monitor Contractors' engineering progress in the Mechanical Engineering discipline and report to project management.
  2. Review design scope and deliverables to ensure Contractors perform all work to agreed standards.
  3. Develop Engineering Procedures, design guides, specifications, instructions, philosophies, and design criteria.
  4. Coordinate with other lead discipline engineers to ensure clear definition and recording of interfaces between disciplines.
  5. Provide technical oversight in the review of deliverables, design reviews, and tasks.
  6. Coordinate and participate in reviews of Contractors' engineering documents/deliverables within discipline to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  7. Monitor the status of Contractor documents reviews for discipline.
  8. Provide necessary support to Equipment list, P&ID, HAZOP/HAZID, Model reviews, studies, etc.
  9. Promote a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  10. Participate in project technical reviews, progress, and review meetings.
  11. Lead an engineering team, have engineering direct reports, and organize the team's work and deliverables to meet project goals.
  12. Conduct performance reviews.
  13. Manage schedule and budget.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with relevant experience in oil, gas, and chemicals related design engineering. Additional experience in PMC, petrochemical, systems startup, field engineering, or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or other engineering/construction firms is a plus. A professional license or Chartered Engineer status in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline is preferred.

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of mechanical equipment, including selection criteria, sizing basis, design calculations, materials, and development of project deliverables for the Mechanical Engineering discipline. They will also have knowledge of industry or regulatory codes and standards, such as API, ASME, etc. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, with the ability to work in project groups with shared-work teams globally.

Relocation and Logistics:

Bechtel Corporation will organize the relocation and logistics for the successful candidate, including Indian visas, travel, and provision of accommodation in Mumbai. The company offers a single status rotational schedule, which means the candidate would mobilize and spend 10 weeks working in country and then go home to the UK for 2 weeks, and so on for the project duration.
