Job SummaryWe are looking for a self-motivated and high-performing Lead Process Engineer with experience in EDC (Ethylene Di-chloride) and/or VCM (Vinyl Chloride Monomer) to lead the process design of a multi-billion-dollar upgrade/expansion project.
Key Responsibilities- Review and oversee Engineering Contractor's process engineering deliverables according to a set engineering design criteria.
- Coordinate the detailed design review of the facility and monitor the status of Engineering Contractor's Process Engineering deliverables.
- Review and oversee Engineering Contractor's scope and work plan for the process discipline for all phases of the project.
- Ensure the delivery of project deliverables, including PFDs/UFDs, HMB, equipment sizing, selection and specification, PSVs and flare system sizing and specification, etc.
- Identify and address design defects in the Engineering Contractor's design to maintain the technical quality of all process deliverables.
- Participate in complex technical discussions with Owner, Engineering Contractor, licensors, and suppliers to validate technical decisions.
- Review and oversee overall plant and unit simulations and/or H&MBs.
- Review and oversee Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs).
- Review and oversee equipment sizes, including vessels, columns, heat exchanger requirements, and packaged equipment specifications.
- Participate in major reviews, such as PFD/P&ID reviews, HAZOPs, and 3D model reviews.
- Represent the process engineering discipline and assess and challenge Engineering Contractor's Process Design on behalf of the Owner.
- Review and oversee relief load narratives, relief load calculations, load summaries, and relief valve datasheets.
- Review and oversee complex technical studies and resolve technical issues on the project.
- A recognized bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum considerable experience of Process Engineering experience in EPC and/or operating industry.
- Experience of being in a process engineering leadership role and circa 10 years of EDC/VCM experience in design and/or operation.
- Excellent understanding of chemical engineering principles of heat transfer, vapor-liquid equilibria, mass transfer, and thermodynamics, and their general application to process design.
- Excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices, and how to apply them for design execution.
- Extensive experience with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes.
- Extensive experience in relief calculation methodologies and industry codes and standards applicable to pressure relief design.
- Knowledgeable in process design of equipment, including vessels, columns, heat exchangers, and package process specifications for equipment and control valves.
- Experience with process configuration and optimization studies to increase product yield, reduce utility consumption (steam, power, cooling water), and reduce/mitigate flare loads.
