Project Overview:

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer to join their team in India. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Mechanical Engineering discipline on a multi-billion-dollar upgrade/expansion project of a petrochemical facility in India.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee and monitor Contractors' engineering progress in the Mechanical Engineering discipline and report to project management.
  2. Review the design scope and deliverables of specific discipline to ensure Contractors perform all work to agreed standards for safety, health, and environment.
  3. Develop Engineering Procedures, design guides, specifications, instructions, philosophies, and design criteria.
  4. Work with other lead discipline engineers to ensure that all interfaces between disciplines are clearly defined and recorded.
  5. Coordinate with other leaders to ensure that multi-discipline interfaces are properly addressed with resolution of technical issues and conflicting design requirements in a timely manner.
  6. Provide technical oversight in the review of the following deliverables, design reviews and tasks:
  • Mechanical Equipment Specifications
  • Mechanical Equipment Datasheets
  • Material Requisitions for Quote and Purchase
  • Technical Bid Evaluations
  • Inspection and Test Plans
  • Vendor document review
  • Inspection reports, etc.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in the oil, gas, and chemicals industry. A professional license or Chartered Engineer status in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline is preferred.

The candidate should have a thorough understanding of mechanical equipment, including selection criteria, sizing basis, design calculations, materials, and development of project deliverables for the Mechanical Engineering discipline. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the candidate will work closely with other engineering disciplines and departments, project management, and clients.
