Job Title: Bridge Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Maintenance Engineer to join our team at BEAR Scotland. As a key member of our North West Bridges Team, you will be responsible for the investigation, design, planning, procurement, and construction management of bridge maintenance works on our network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop bridge maintenance schemes to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our network.
  • Collaborate with internal and sub-contractor resources to deliver high-quality results.
  • Prepare reports, investigations, feasibility studies, and assessments to inform decision-making.
  • Work closely with commercial specialists to complete tender evaluations and assist with contract award.
  • Procure, supervise, and measure maintenance works to ensure compliance with technical standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and other BEAR departments.
Requirements:
  • Degree-level education in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience in civil engineering design and a strong understanding of health and safety, environmental, and commercial aspects of schemes.
  • Professional qualification and membership of an appropriate professional body or a clear path to membership.
  • Full approved UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
