Job Title: Bridge Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Maintenance Engineer to join our team at BEAR Scotland. As a key member of our North West Bridges Team, you will be responsible for the investigation, design, planning, procurement, and construction management of bridge maintenance works on our network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop bridge maintenance schemes to ensure compliance with technical standards.
  • Prepare reports, investigations, feasibility studies, and assessments to inform decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and sub-contractor resources to deliver projects.
  • Produce tender documents, pre-construction information, and construction packages.
  • Assist with contract award and procurement of maintenance works.
  • Ensure environmental screening and mitigation measures are implemented prior to work commencing.
  • Follow Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
  • Assist in team compliance with CDM Regulations and conduct robust risk assessments.
  • Use clients' structures management systems and geographical inventory system to maintain structure data and as-built records.
  • Prepare cost estimates and monitor internal financial performance of individual schemes.
Requirements:
  • Degree-level education in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience in civil engineering design and a professional qualification.
  • Full approved UK driving license.
  • Clear communication skills.
