About the Role:

The National Oceanography Centre is a leading institution in the development and application of coastal-ocean numerical models and shelf sea science. The Marine Data Products Team is seeking an applied coastal-ocean modeller to work in Liverpool.

The successful applicant will work on developing, testing, and applying a range of ocean models to meet diverse commercial requirements. Key responsibilities include responding to requests for coastal modelling work, working with clients to meet their needs, and developing new regional models for areas of commercial demand.

Collaboration with other organisations, such as the Met Office, is also essential to ensure the availability of necessary data and tools. Key Responsibilities:

  • Coastal modelling work for a wide range of physical parameters, primarily focusing on tides and storm surges.
  • Developing software tools to enhance the efficiency of model setup and application.
  • Working with clients to meet their modelling requirements, including tide modelling, storm surge modelling, particle tracking, and oil/chemical spill modelling.
  • Developing new regional models for areas of commercial demand.
