Job summary
Cromwell Hospital is seeking a professional dietitian to join its dedicated dietetic team. The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of clinical dietetics and a passion for delivering exceptional nutritional care and support across various specialities.
This is a key role to help deliver first-class, comprehensive dietetic services to both inpatients and outpatients at Cromwell Hospital, specialising in Critical Care.
To ensure evidence-based treatment in line with best practice, develop and implement policies and protocols within the service and seek new opportunities to enhance and grow services. Provide clinical support and cover where necessary, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to contribute to enhanced dietetic specialist services.
Identify and implement service improvements and market the department to promote service and new referrals.

Main duties of the job
- Ensure provision of the correct therapeutic diets by ensuring regular follow-up throughout hospital admission.
- Assess the need for, promote and monitor nutritional support for inpatients.
- Recommend and deliver correct nutritional feeds to patients, both inpatients and outpatients, as necessary, to compliment nutritional support.
- Coordinate patient referrals and advise patients and/or companions regarding the prescribed diet and arranging follow-up appointments as appropriate.
- Develop and provide information resources for patients, other health professionals.
- Ensure robust working relationships with in-house Catering Provider, including external dietitian, in-house managers and chefs; plan and develop menus for patients.
- Promote, market and develop the Dietetic Service in order to ensure its continued growth and improvement.
- Participate in marketing initiatives for the department as requested, liaising with Bupa and Marketing Department.
- Be involved in and organise national events within own specialism.
- Contribute to the development and update of policies and procedures for the Dietetic Department within own specialities and ensure all dietetic service standards are maintained.
- Work within the agreed annual Dietetic departmental budget and to ensure correct charging for nutritional consultations and nutritional feeds dispensed.
- Seek and develop commercial opportunities to develop the dietetic service.

What you will do
The role is varied and will change with the changing needs of the department. This will be discussed with individuals prior to appointment.
- Provide specialised nutritional plans to AICU / critical care patients and support Dietetic specialities as required.

What you will bring
We are looking for a professional, friendly, and enthusiastic dietitian, with well-rounded experience in general clinical dietetics to cover the Hospital specialities.
- FODMAP experience is highly desirable and paediatric experience desirable.
- Accomplished general clinical dietetic experience including nutrition support and oncology experience.
- Experience in critical care essential.
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at post graduate course/training relevant to clinical speciality.
- Degree or Masters in Dietetics.
- Registered with the HCPC.
- Member of the British Association of Dietetics and with specialist interest groups, CCSG, ICS.
- Committed to the continuous development of staff and self.
