Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostic Excellence: Perform and prioritize laboratory techniques according to established protocols, ensuring accurate and timely results that contribute to high standards of patient care.
- Training and Development: Assist in the training and mentorship of junior staff members, supporting their growth and development within the department.
- Quality Management: Participate in maintaining and implementing quality standards, including the use of quality management systems, performing risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
- Scientific Expertise: Engage in advanced troubleshooting of complex equipment, participate in the critical evaluation of new methodologies, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with the laboratory team, departmental managers, and external healthcare providers, ensuring the accurate dissemination of patient results and collaborative problem-solving.

- Essential
- HCPC Registration: Must be registered as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Relevant Degree: A degree in Biomedical Science or a closely related field accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).
- Desirable
- Specialist Portfolio: Completion of an IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology or another relevant discipline.
