Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Biomedical Scientist to enhance our Cellular Pathology team with their expertise in diagnostic services. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services, working under the guidance of Cellular Pathology Management.
Role Overview
As a Biomedical Scientist within our Cellular Pathology department, you will perform routine operations across various sections of the specialty, ensuring accurate and timely results that contribute to high standards of patient care. This role offers a considerable degree of autonomy, allowing you to work independently for significant periods, making critical decisions that directly impact patient care.
Main Duties of the Job
- Diagnostic Excellence: Perform and prioritize laboratory techniques according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring accurate and timely results that contribute to high standards of patient care.
- Training and Development: Assist in the training and mentorship of Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, and other staff members, supporting their growth and development within the department.
- Quality Management: Participate in maintaining and implementing quality standards, including the use of the Q-Pulse Quality Management System, performing risk assessments, audits, and ensuring compliance with ISO 15189 standards.
- Scientific Expertise: Engage in advanced troubleshooting of complex equipment, participate in the critical evaluation of new methodologies, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with the laboratory team, departmental managers, and external healthcare providers, ensuring the accurate dissemination of patient results and collaborative problem-solving.

Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a degree in Biomedical Science or a closely related field, be registered as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and have relevant experience in a Cellular Pathology department.
