About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Biomedical Scientist Assistant to join our Histology Department on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment and play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

As a Biomedical Scientist Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the processing and preparation of tissue samples for microscopic examination. Working under the guidance of experienced histologists, you will have the opportunity to develop your technical competencies and contribute to the delivery of high-quality laboratory services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform routine biomedical investigations and participate in the daily scientific and technical activities of the laboratory section in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and under the supervision of Biomedical Scientists.
  • Rotate through a range of specialist areas of the laboratory, including Microtomy, Embedding, Immunohistochemistry, sample transfer, RCPATH scoring, and allocation.
  • Participate in cross-site working and contribute to the development of new tests and research & validation of equipment.
  • Utilize laboratory computer applications, including LIMS, Quality Management System, and stock control system.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of staff within the laboratory and user organization in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Maintain high personal standards and conform to Health and Safety and laboratory regulations.
