About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Medical Malpractice team at AXIS Capital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for underwriting a wide range of medical professionals' business, with a focus on delegated authority channels in the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of medical malpractice risks and trends, and apply this knowledge to underwrite new and renewal accounts.
  • Exercise independent judgment in the management of underwriting activities, including market analysis, risk evaluation, and coverage recommendations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and coverholders, and develop a distribution strategy to grow our business in the medical malpractice sector.
  • Collaborate with other teams within AXIS Capital to identify opportunities for cross-class business growth and develop strategies to achieve this.
  • Stay up-to-date with economic and legal factors impacting the medical malpractice sector, and apply this knowledge to inform underwriting decisions.
  • Participate in projects and perform other related work as required.
Requirements
  • Significant experience underwriting medical malpractice risks, with a background in professional lines or liability underwriting.
  • Ability to identify strategic growth areas and highlight potential threats to account profitability.
  • Proven track record in successfully developing a book of business.
  • Excellent technical skills in underwriting medical malpractice risks.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
