Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Consultant with Community Mental Health Expertise to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. As an experienced professional in Adult Psychiatry, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients within the prison system.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in working with complex mental health cases and experience in multidisciplinary teamwork. You will be based at HMP Guys Marsh and HMP Erlestoke, where you will work closely with our mental health team, comprising mental health practitioners, occupational therapists, Support Time and Recovery workers, and a psychology team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of patients with complex mental health needs
  • Conduct assessments and provide treatment plans for patients
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver effective care
  • Participate in ward rounds and outpatient clinics as required

Requirements:

  • Degree in medicine or equivalent qualification
  • Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Experience in adult psychiatry, preferably in a prison setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
