Job Summary:

This post offers an exceptional opportunity to join our Neurorehabilitation service at Orpington Hospital as a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist. You will be responsible for providing a highly specialist SLT service to adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders following acquired neurological impairment.

Main Duties:

Key responsibilities include managing an autonomous caseload, assessing and differentially diagnosing complex cases, and providing specialist input into policies and protocols. You will also work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care and provide complex and sensitive clinical information to patients and carers.

Person Specification:

  • Essential:
    • BSc or recognised post graduate MSc or diploma in speech and language therapy
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council
    • Postgraduate training in dysphagia management
  • Desirable:
    • Member of RCSLT
    • Leadership and management training course(s)

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Highly motivated and able to demonstrate ability to lead designated clinical area
  • Clinical supervision and line management skills
  • Ability to work at a senior level in partnership with other professionals and agencies
  • Ability to plan and implement appropriate highly specialist treatment packages
