Job Summary:This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of technical expertise and experience in electrical calibration and measurement. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for performing and supervising high-level calibration and repair of electrical test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
Key Responsibilities:- Perform and supervise high-level calibration and repair of electrical TMDE, including resource management and calibration workload signoff.
- Write, review, and approve calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets.
- Take part in UKAS (ISO audits and quickly achieve UKAS signatory status.
- Deliver specific, target-driven on-the-job training and experiential learning to apprentices and lesser-experienced team members.
- Professional communication with technical stakeholders, including consultation on new measurement technologies.
- Extensive experience in a precision electrical metrology laboratory environment.
- Understanding of quality systems and standards (ISO 17025/ISO 9001).
- Relevant academic qualification (STEM degree, HNC/HND or equivalent).
- Existing UKAS signatory status for Electrical Calibration.
- Experience in creation of measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level.
- Experience in use of automation software (Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview).
- Experience in Mechanical/Dimensional/Temperature calibrations.

About the Team:The calibration department currently supports 30,000 pieces of equipment per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment through to state-of-the-art digital systems.
ICS Electrical focuses on the calibration of TMDE capable of making AC/DC voltage, current, resistance, inductance, capacitance, and time and frequency measurements.
ICS Electrical supports calibrations in a dedicated laboratory as well as on-site around the Barrow Submarines Site and Walney Aerodrome.
We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
