About the Role

Splash Damage is a renowned game development studio that champions team play and lifelong friendships. As a Lead Gameplay Programmer, you will be responsible for implementing new gameplay features within a multiplayer environment.

We work closely with other disciplines to help them realise their ideas through rapid prototyping and iterative agile development.

As an Unreal Engine focused studio, we're excited to be transitioning our teams to the latest in UE5 technology and we're looking for skilled developers to help us drive this forward.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Setting clear technical direction, intent, and best practices within your team.
  2. Identifying risks and blockers early and proactively removing them.
  3. Working effectively in open and collaborative environments.
  4. Collaborating with project leadership to plan long-term roadmaps and improve development processes.
  5. Writing clear, maintainable, and scalable code as needed.
  6. Nurturing professional growth within your team with an enthusiastic attitude and a team-first mentality.

What We Offer

We offer a comprehensive benefits package for you and your family, including:

  • A competitive salary of £65,000 - £85,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • 4-day work week: Tuesday - Friday.
  • 20 days of annual leave, equivalent to 5 weeks within a 4-day work week.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Expert knowledge of C++ with relevant professional experience.
  • A strong understanding of game-development related 3D maths principles.
  • The leadership skills to lead a gameplay development team.
  • Professional experience iteratively implementing gameplay features from inception to delivery.
  • Experience working in all phases of game development, from feature design to planning and establishing roadmaps, implementation, and bug-fixing.

Bonus Points For

Having professional development experience with real-time networked multiplayer games, or experience with multi-threaded development.
