Job Overview:

The Senior Hardware Engineer will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of hardware and electronics systems for our primary hardware system, the BuffaloGrid Hub, and associated products.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement hardware products and enhancements, collaborating with internal and external specialists
  • Create and maintain schematics and PCB layouts with awareness of power systems
  • Guide senior management in definition of product budgets, schedules, and specification
  • Stay current on emerging tech and industry trends
  • Collaborate with Industrial Designers to ensure form is sufficient for product functionality
  • Prototype and define system firmware
  • Identify Total Cost of Operation/Ownership (TCO) for hardware products
  • Define and execute engineering tests
  • Define and oversee manufacturing tests
  • Capture key operational requirements and ensure they are fed into future iterations
  • Identify and track safety risks and develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Manage relationships with contractors and production partners
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in a hardware startup or small hardware team
  • Experience with Lithium Ion battery management systems and solar power
  • Understanding of IoT device connectivity and wireless technologies
  • Comfortable working in Unix and Windows environments
  • Licence to work in the UK
