Job Summary

Essex County Council is seeking a skilled Refuse Loader to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting household and commercial refuse and recycling from various locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collecting waste and recyclables from domestic and commercial premises in accordance with safe working methods and departmental policies.
  • Assisting drivers in the safe maneuvering of vehicles on rounds or at disposal locations.
  • Operating compaction and bin lifting equipment safely.
  • Ensuring bin lifting and compaction equipment is secured correctly when vehicles are in transit.
  • Clearing up spillages associated with waste and recycling presented for collection.
  • Working flexibly to ensure waste management services operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Recording and reporting relevant information relating to collections and dealing with customer queries.

Requirements

  • Experience of undertaking refuse and recycling collections or similar operations.
  • Ability to provide good customer service.
  • Dealing with members of the public in some capacity.
