About the Role

Sustainable Used Materials Services (SUMS) Quality Specialist will play a crucial role in making our service more sustainable and dependable. This involves developing and implementing quality processes for new repairable parts, monitoring the quality of parts used in the field, and repaired by third parties.

The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with Smiths Detection standards and customer requirements, identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction, and develop quality plans and procedures for new repairable parts.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a global leader in the aerospace, defense, and security industry, with a focus on sustainability and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop quality plans and procedures for new repairable parts, including inspection criteria, testing methods, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and service teams to ensure quality requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Perform quality audits and inspections on returned or repaired parts and generate quality reports and metrics.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints related to repairable parts.
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and reliability of repairable parts and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain quality records and documentation and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practices for repairable parts quality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in quality assurance, quality control, or quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace, defense, or security industry.
  • Knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, such as ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean, 8D, FMEA, SPC, etc.
  • Experience with repairable parts, refurbishment, or remanufacturing processes.
