Advocate for Children and Families

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advocate for Children and Families to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support to victims of domestic and sexual abuse, ensuring their safety and well-being.
About the Role:This is an exciting opportunity to work in a hospital environment, providing a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic and sexual abuse. You will work closely with health professionals, implementing effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
As a Hospital Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate, you will:
- Provide a premium service prioritized according to risk, focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
- Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic and sexual abuse
- Be comfortable with running group training sessions and sharing your specialist knowledge with acute staff across the hospital
You will need to have a good understanding of domestic and sexual abuse, including the impact of abuse on victims and their children. You will also need to understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management for victims of domestic and sexual abuse and their children.
Direct service delivery to victims of domestic and sexual abuse or other vulnerable people is essential. You will need to have excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
