Key Responsibilities:

  1. Representation in Care Proceedings:
  • Provide comprehensive legal representation for children involved in care proceedings, advocating for their rights and interests in judicial settings.
  1. Expert Legal Advice:
  • Deliver informed legal counsel to children, guardians, and families regarding care proceedings, child protection issues, and family law.
  1. Court Advocacy:
  • Serve as an advocate in court, presenting cases, cross-examining witnesses, and making submissions on behalf of the child or their guardian.
  1. Case Oversight:
  • Oversee a caseload of intricate and sensitive care proceedings, ensuring meticulous preparation for each case, including evidence collection, document drafting, and coordination with other professionals.
  1. Client Engagement:
  • Uphold exceptional standards of client engagement, ensuring clear, compassionate, and effective communication with children, their families, and other involved professionals.
  1. Collaboration with Professionals:
  • Collaborate closely with social workers, guardians, medical experts, and other professionals to gather insights, provide legal guidance, and formulate case strategies.
  1. Legal Aid Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to legal aid regulations and manage the financial components of cases, including applying for and justifying legal aid funding as required.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Draft and review legal documents for court, including statements, orders, and reports, ensuring precision and compliance with legal standards.
  1. Professional Development:
  • Engage in continuous professional development through training sessions, seminars, and workshops to enhance legal expertise and advocacy capabilities.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Accredited Childcare Solicitor with Child Panel qualification
  • Skilled in advising families on care proceedings and legal aid matters
  • Experience with complex cases involving medical considerations is a plus
  • Proven track record in representing children in care proceedings
