Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced nurse to join our team as a Clinical Lead for Learning Disability Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the team, as well as contributing to the professional development of junior staff.

The post holder will work closely with other professionals to assess service users' needs, devise care plans, and evaluate outcomes that promote service user empowerment.

The ideal candidate will have significant post-graduation experience within Learning Disability Services and a strong understanding of common physical, mental, and emotional health needs experienced by people with a learning disability.

The successful candidate will be physically fit and able to successfully complete a prevention and management of aggression training course, and annual refresher training.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team, developing working partnerships with inpatient services and primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare.
  • Provide management supervision and appraisal for junior staff, in accordance with the HPFT supervision policy.
  • Function as a charge nurse to people with learning disabilities and associated mental health needs, taking responsibility for the formulation of appropriate care plans.
  • Act in a consultative role to external agencies in relation to clinical interventions, risk assessments, and management plans.
Requirements
  • Relevant professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Significant post-graduation experience within Learning Disability Services.
  • Knowledge of common physical, mental, and emotional health needs experienced by people with a learning disability.
  • Experience of working with people with learning disabilities or complex health needs.
  • Knowledge of legislation and policy relating to learning disabilities.
