About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Finance Partner to join our Strategic Finance Team at West Northamptonshire Council. As an Assistant Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role in supporting our Finance Business Partner Team and providing expert financial guidance to our budget holders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Planning and Budgeting: Support budget holders in developing and managing financial plans, including budget modeling and financial analysis for revenue and capital income and expenditure.
  2. Budget Monitoring and Risk Management: Work with budget holders to ensure accurate and timely budget monitoring, including risk appraisals and financial forecasting.
  3. Business Case Appraisals: Assist in the assessment of business case appraisals, including interpreting and analyzing complex financial and non-financial information.
  4. Financial Systems and Processes: Develop and implement financial systems and processes to ensure robust governance and best practice.
  5. Compliance and Statutory Obligations: Ensure that services perform their duties and functions in fulfillment of their financial statutory obligations, keeping abreast of the Council's changing legal obligations and ensuring relevant compliance with the Council's Financial Procedure Rules and SORPs.
  6. Customer Satisfaction: Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction to support the Finance Business Partner business plan and deliverables.
  7. Accounting and Reporting: Support the closedown of the accounts schedule, reviewing processes and timescales to enable deadlines to be met.
  8. Strategic Analysis: Support the Council to deliver its strategies with an understanding and inputting into the analysis of changes to accounting and reporting requirements.
About You

You will be a qualified accountant (AAT or recognized professional accounting qualification) or committed to studying and qualifying. Ongoing professional development will also be key to your success.
