English Teacher Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about English to join a successful and continually improving department with a talented team of specialists, recently awarded by OAT as having the best progress within the trust.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Key Stage 3 and 4 English who has high expectations, strong classroom management skills, and good subject knowledge. At OSCA, we strive to support staff to continually develop their skills to ensure enjoyment and rigour in the classroom. The English Department prides itself on teamwork, passion, and drive, and applications are welcome from candidates with a similar philosophy.

Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy is located in the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell, and in very close proximity to the centre of Birmingham. It is a slightly larger than average, 11-16 co-educational academy with approximately 1,150 students. It has grown over the last few years and is now full and oversubscribed in every year group for the seventh consecutive year. The academy's reputation locally is excellent. OSCA was graded as a good academy, for the third time in October 2023.

The academy has been recognised with a myriad of awards over recent years. These include the Investors In People Gold Award, The Quality In Careers Standard Gold Award, The Basic Skills Quality Mark, and the Artsmark Gold Award. This is a fantastic time to join the vibrant and caring learning community at OSCA. Its strong code of values guides its work and creates a secure and safe environment where all students can thrive and succeed. There is a range of support for the department and teachers through our sponsor OAT, which includes CPD and career development.

OAT is one of the largest and longest standing trusts in the school system and is guided by our founder, Peter Murray's belief that every child deserves the chance to thrive.

Our schools are located across a diverse range of communities, each with its own unique character, strengths, and challenges. Joining the OAT family means embracing a community that values collaboration, professional growth, and the pursuit of excellence. We strive to provide an exceptional working environment where all our staff can thrive and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our pupils.

Are You the Inspirational Teacher We Are Looking For?

We are seeking outstanding candidates to join Team OSCA who have:
  • A flair for innovation in learning and teaching
