Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Learning and Therapeutic Partner to join our team at Newlands Academy. As a specialist provision for children with social, emotional and mental health needs, we require an individual who can provide music tuition and support to our students in a small class setting and on a one-to-one basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the teaching team in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
  • Support children with social, emotional and mental health needs, including those with sensory and/or physical impairment, cognitive or learning difficulties, behavioural, emotional and social development needs, communication and interaction difficulties.
  • Provide music tuition to individual students and small groups of students.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized learning plans.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of SEMH and ability to use approved de-escalation and intervention techniques.
  • Empathy and ability to work with children who have complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment.

About Newlands Academy

Newlands Academy is a purpose-built special secondary school based in Southwark, London for boys aged 11 to 16 with social, emotional and mental health needs. We are part of Academies Enterprise Trust, a multi-academy trust that provides a comprehensive education to students with a range of needs.
