We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The successful candidate will have a strong background in microbiology and a proven track record of research experience in Campylobacter pathogenesis.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on the molecular and phenotypic characteristics of Campylobacter jejuni Outer Membrane Vesicles (OMVs)
- Investigate the role of the Maintenance of Lipid Asymmetry (MLA) system in OMV production and its impact on avian host responses
- Develop OMVs-based vaccine modalities against Campylobacter colonization in commercial broilers
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant field, ideally a doctoral degree
- Relevant experience in Campylobacter pathogenesis in avian models, including genotypic and phenotypic experiments
- Experience with high-resolution microscopy-based techniques and genomics
- Experience with in vivo chicken infection models
- Full-time, fixed-term position until 30 November 2026
- Funded by the BBSRC
- Salary on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £43,947 - £49,908 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting)
- Annual leave entitlement of 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff
- Discretionary 'Wellbeing Days'
- Membership of the Pension Scheme
This post will be based at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, with research time in IISER Kolkata, India. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr Ozan Gundogdu and Dr Amirul Islam Mallick and their teams.
