A leading retailer is currently seeking a seasoned Transport Operations Manager to oversee their fleet of 60 vehicles and manage a team of 60 drivers at the Distribution Center.

The ideal candidate will possess a CPC certification and have a proven track record in managing logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize staffing levels to meet business demands, ensuring seamless fleet operations.
  • Coordinate with agency support as needed to maintain efficient logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with road transport regulations, EU drivers' hours laws, and tachograph requirements.
  • Process orders, produce pick lists, dispatch notes, and loading sheets according to depot procedures.
  • Optimize vehicle utilization to minimize delivery costs.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant vehicle files and service records.
  • Induct drivers and mates into their roles, providing thorough training and supporting ongoing development.
  • Analyze and report transport statistics in a timely manner for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers and mates, resolving issues promptly and escalating concerns to the Transport Manager as necessary.
  • Manage absence effectively, taking proactive measures to mitigate disruptions.
Requirements:
  • You should come from a distribution and transport background, ideally with load planning experience.
  • You must be comfortable working with numerical data, gathering, and analyzing transport information efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service skills are essential, as you will work closely with the transport crew and act as the first point of contact for issue resolution.
  • A skilled problem solver, you will continually seek improvements and think ahead to anticipate challenges.
  • You will possess a proactive and positive approach, stepping up to support at management level as required.
