Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

At Azenta Life Science, we are committed to delivering exceptional service and products to our customers. We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Improve the efficiency, quality, and productivity of our manufacturing cells, Automated Storage installation, and Commissioning.
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget, while striving for continuous improvement and utilizing Lean techniques in all aspects of manufacturing.
  • Meet and improve targets in productivity, time measurements, quality, first-time pass measurement, commercial demands, manufacturing efficiency, product quality monitoring, and change control.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Promote the use of Lean manufacturing within the production process and implement continuous improvement activities.
  • Lead small teams of staff in continuous improvement activities, develop and coordinate changes to existing production cell layouts, technical assembly, and test equipment.
  • Use visual management tools via Lean techniques to drive improvement in site engagement and productivity.
  • Work in cross-functional teams on all product development projects, promoting Lean philosophy and methods, and Design for Manufacture philosophies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Interface with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements.
  • Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
  • Deliver projects on time and cost, and develop processes and study for errors and improvements.
Requirements:
  • Proficient with tools, systems, and procedures associated with Lean manufacturing.
  • Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum HND/foundation degree or equivalent) in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, understands and applies most principles, theories, concepts, and techniques utilized in the discipline.
  • Ability to provide resolution to various problems of moderately complex scope.
  • Flexible can-do attitude, with well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and plan and prioritize their own workload.
  • Strong, proactive communicator and leader who works equally well within a team environment as well as on their own.
