We're seeking a Health and Safety Consultant to join our team at First Option, an ERM Group Company. As a leading provider of production safety, wellbeing, and sustainability, we support hundreds of projects each year across the UK and worldwide.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate with a health and safety qualification, holding either graduate membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health or the qualifications and experience to apply for Graduate membership. They will have up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations and advice, with a solid understanding of computer systems and proficiency in MS Office.

The role will involve providing health and safety advice, information, and training to our clients, with a focus on adopting a creative and innovative approach to providing advice and guidance on matters of health and safety. The successful candidate will also be responsible for establishing systems and arrangements to foster a positive culture and approach to safety, offering timely and professional advice to client managers and staff on their health, safety policies, and risk management associated with their operations.

The focus of the Health & Safety Consultant will be to work with the First Option team and client(s) to:

  • Adopt a creative and innovative approach to providing advice and guidance on matters of health and safety to the client(s).
  • Establish systems and arrangements to foster a positive culture and approach to safety for clients.
  • Offer timely and professional advice to client managers and staff on their health, safety policies, and risk management associated with their operations.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring and auditing of outsourced contractors as instructed, and recommend effective methods to minimize risks to an acceptable level.
  • Lead or support the creation and implementation of training programs as directed, addressing the strategic requirements of the clients.
  • Investigate incidents and, where necessary, prepare comprehensive reports to fulfil legal reporting obligations.
  • Perform tasks related to the evaluation and auditing of the department's risk management effectiveness.

Requirements

A recognised Health and Safety qualification

Graduate membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health or the qualifications and experience to apply for Graduate membership

Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations and advice

Comprehension of the significance of upholding operational priorities without sacrificing safety or professional standards

Proficient in persuasion and influence across all business levels, capable of being collaborative and aiding managers and staff in comprehending their health and safety responsibilities while ensuring the maintenance of effective health and safety management systems

Solid understanding of computer systems and proficiency in MS Office

Understanding of the television and media industries

Training experience
