Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Delivery Director to join our technical teams at Jagex Limited. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of our production and ensuring the development and execution of our operational strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the operational strategy for our technical teams, ensuring alignment with our studio-wide production best practices.
  • Create and implement work systems, including team structures, reporting mechanisms, and coordination processes.
  • Develop accountability rituals to ensure teams plan, review, and deliver commitments, celebrating successes and learning from failures.
  • Establish systems to diagnose and address delivery problems efficiently.
  • Maintain open communication with internal stakeholders and customers regarding commitments and delivery progress.
  • Assess and understand the capabilities of our technical teams, matching them to our strategies for current and future work.
  • Lead tech team leadership discussions on growth, headcount, and vendor projections, allocating the workforce accordingly.
  • Resolve conflicts within and between departments effectively.
  • Ensure psychological safety, healthy feedback culture, and conflict management within and between teams.
  • Work with leadership to foster an environment where teams are empowered and autonomy is normalized.
  • Collaborate with production leadership to improve delivery at Jagex based on cutting-edge practices and techniques from Lean, Agile, and Systems Thinking.
  • Establish production KPIs aligned with studio-wide best practices, monitoring, improving, and reporting on them to senior leadership.
  • Operate in a delivery context, as well as enacting transformative change and strategic leadership at a technical leadership level.
  • Be accountable for operational expenditure and reporting purposes for the department P&L.
  • Line manage Delivery Leads, providing pastoral care, career development, performance management, and coaching and mentoring junior production personnel.

Requirements

  • Active interest in the games industry and technology behind it.
  • Extensive experience in hands-on delivery using Agile, Lean, and/or Systems Thinking.
  • Experience managing complex deliveries involving 3 or more teams.
  • Proven Software Development Lifecycle experience.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders to achieve the best outcome for Jagex and the team.
  • Demonstrable experience collaborating with Product, UX, QA, and Engineering in multi-functional teams and across leadership functions.
  • Experience working in a scaled delivery environment.
  • Recent experience working effectively with distributed teams.
  • Value-driven approach rather than project metrics-driven.
  • Open to occasional international travel.
