Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dietitian Specialist to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. This is a new post that will play a key role in developing a service to support children with Long Covid, other post-viral and fatiguing conditions, chronic pain, and similar conditions.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including dietetics, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, and paediatrics. They will be required to travel to other sites to deliver clinics and home visits as needed.
Main Duties of the Job
The Dietitian Specialist will be responsible for providing a high standard of assessment and management for children with complex nutritional needs. They will work autonomously to manage their caseload, drawing on their experience of working with children and young people.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for supervising and mentoring junior members of staff, including student dietitians and support workers. They will provide the appropriate level of support and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
Person Specification
- BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
- HCPC Registered
- Post-registration training in relevant area
Desirable Criteria
- Student Clinical Educators Course
- Recognised management/leadership qualification
Knowledge and Experience
- Evidence of a wide variety of clinical knowledge
- MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge + advanced postgraduate training/experience in relevant areas
- Experience of working as a Specialist Dietitian in Nutrition and Dietetics within a specialist area
- Experience of supervising/mentoring staff
Aptitude and Abilities
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills
- Highly developed organisational skills to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Able to work on own initiative in a professional manner under pressure
