Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced dietitian to join our multidisciplinary team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a Specialist Dietitian, you will work closely with children and young people presenting with Long Covid, other post-viral and fatiguing conditions, chronic pain, and other similar conditions.

This is a permanent, part-time role that requires travel to other sites to deliver clinics and home visits as needed. You will be part of a generic therapy assistant practitioner and administration support team, working closely with a Paediatric Dietetic team based in Morriston Hospital.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Specialist Dietitian, you will have close working relationships with the Paediatric Dietetic team and will draw on your experience of working with children and young people to autonomously manage your caseload, providing a high standard of assessment and management.

You will support the supervision and mentoring of junior members of staff, Placement 1, 2, and 3 student dietitians, and support workers and assistant practitioners, delegating duties as necessary and providing the appropriate level of support at all times.

Person Specification

  • BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered
  • Post-registration training in relevant area

Desirable Criteria

  • Student Clinical Educators Course
  • Recognised management/leadership qualification

Knowledge

  • Evidence of a wide variety of clinical knowledge
  • MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge + advanced postgraduate training/experience in relevant areas

Experience

  • Experience of working as a Specialist Dietitian in Nutrition and Dietetics within specialist area
  • Experience of a high level of specialist knowledge of service delivery in a variety of different settings
  • Experience of supervising/mentoring staff
  • Experience of audit and quality improvement methodology

Aptitude and Abilities

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including developed oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Highly developed organisational skills to be able to set priorities and meet daily deadlines
  • Able to work on own initiative in a professional manner under pressure as well as having effective teamwork skills
