Job Summary:

Solution Recruitment Ltd - temporary is seeking a skilled Tunneling Site/Shift Engineer to join our team for the Snowdonia VIP Tunnel project. As a Tunneling Site/Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and complying with Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) related issues, ensuring the TBM operates within required parameters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management and compliance with TBM related issues, including TBM guidance, ring selection, face pressure, and other activities to ensure TBM operating requirements are adhered to.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the Permit to Tunnel and Daily Briefing, ensuring any actions, controls, or findings are implemented and followed accordingly by operators and supervision.
  • Observation of ground conditions, monitoring and review of material in the STP, and noting any changes, significant or otherwise, and communicating to Sub-Agent/Agent and capturing on shift report.
  • Assistance in the coordination of crane activities, including TBM assembly, launch, and disassembly, in conjunction with Lift Supervisors and Lifting Coordinators.
  • Conversance with all drawings, specifications, and related information for the works under their control, seeking advice when unsure and speaking up when not complying.

About the Project:

The Visual Impact Provision project aims to reduce the visual impact of National Grid's overhead line across the Dwyryd Estuary from Minffordd to Llandecwyn. The project involves removing a section of the overhead line and replacing it with electricity cables buried in a tunnel underground, presenting a major opportunity to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife, and environmental heritage of the Eryri landscape.

Requirements:

  • Experience in tunneling or a related field, with a strong understanding of TBM operations and management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
