We are seeking skilled Mechanical Pipefitters/Welders to join our client's team in the Midlands. As a Mechanical Pipefitter/Welder, you will be responsible for preparing vessels and equipment for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections, providing technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance for mechanical issues, and contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of maintenance programs and procedures across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • NDT Inspection Preparation: Prepare vessels and equipment for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections.
  • Mechanical Support: Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance for mechanical issues, including breakdowns.
  • Maintenance Program Support: Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of maintenance programs and procedures across the site.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing and coordinating spare parts to optimize stock levels related to pipefitting and welding operations.
  • Workplace Safety Compliance: Rigorously adhere to safe work systems and maintenance protocols.
  • Housekeeping: Ensure a clean and organized work environment in all assigned areas.
  • Safety Reporting: Promptly report any unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Team Leadership: Offer mentorship, guidance, and training to junior team members.

Required Experience:

  • Pipefitting/Welding Expertise: A minimum of three years of experience in pipe fitting, welding, or fabrication, with a focus on hygienic stainless steel dairy tube welding, especially within the brewing industry.
  • TIG Welding Proficiency: Expertise in TIG welding, with the ability to work on thin-wall stainless steel dairy tubes and SS schedule tubing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting pipework schematics and engineering drawings. Experienced in planning pipe and service routes that are both hygienic and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Specialized Training: Confined space certification and MEWP/FLT experience are advantageous.
  • Welding Qualifications: Ideally certified to BS EN ISO 9606-1:2017, with experience in various welding processes, including arc and TIG welding. Experience with different grades of carbon and stainless steel, handling various pipe diameters, and working in all positions (PA, PC, PE, PF, PG, 6G) is highly desirable.
  • Weld Inspection: Skilled in conducting visual weld inspections according to ISO 17637.
  • Mechanical Fitting: Mechanical fitting experience is a plus.
