Lead the English Department at Avonside Girls' High School

Avonside Girls' High School is seeking an experienced and passionate leader to head its well-established and dedicated English department. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful leadership in curriculum design, high expectations teaching, and improved student achievement at NCEA and co-requisites.

About the Role

The Head of English will be responsible for leading a team of teachers to deliver high-quality English education to students. This includes designing and implementing curriculum, providing professional development for staff, and monitoring student progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the English department to achieve high academic standards
  • Design and implement curriculum that meets the needs of students
  • Provide professional development for staff to improve teaching practices
  • Monitor student progress and achievement
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive curriculum
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Residency or a work visa and accompanying registration
  • Experience in leading a team of teachers
  • Proven track record of improving student achievement
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
