Head of Academic English Job Description

EKC Group is seeking a highly experienced and innovative individual to lead our Academic English programme. As Head of Academic English, you will be responsible for managing a programme area and promoting high standards in a positive and supportive culture that aspires to be outstanding.

About the Role

The English department at Canterbury College is responsible for delivering Functional Skills and GCSE resit English to our students on a range of technical, vocational, and academic study programmes. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates who are English specialists and have recent experience of leading and managing curriculum teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a programme area and promote high standards in a positive and supportive culture
  • Lead and manage curriculum teams to deliver high-quality programme provision
  • Develop and implement curriculum plans to ensure excellence in teaching and learning
  • Manage a delegated budget to support programme delivery
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues from across the college to achieve outstanding results
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will hold a degree-level qualification and a recognised teaching qualification (DET/PGCE/CertEd). You will also have demonstrable teaching practice at good or outstanding level, experience of curriculum planning and development, and a proven ability to manage and lead an experienced, professional team to deliver results.
