About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team in the Cellular Pathology department at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the diagnostic service, working closely with Biomedical Scientists, a MLA team leader, and clinical staff.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of tasks, including sample handling, preparation, and tracking, consultant support during specimen dissection, patient data entry, and maintaining equipment. You will work as part of a team based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and as part of the satellite team at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital on a rotational basis.

Requirements

  • Literacy and numeracy to at least GCSE or equivalent level
  • Experience of dealing with sensitive information
  • Ability to work both individually or as part of a team
  • Ability to follow complex procedures
