Main Responsibilities
  • Provide direct expert nursing care to patients and their families with epilepsy, working collaboratively with the nursing team and lead Consultant with a specialist interest in Epilepsy.
  • Assess children holistically, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based care, demonstrating a robust understanding of issues related to children with a lifelong health condition.
  • Deliver education and training for patients, carers, healthcare professionals, and other professional groups, promoting a holistic, collaborative, and coordinated approach to care.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service through teaching and support of other healthcare professionals and acting as a source of nursing expertise in this area.
  • Participate in research activity and clinical audits within the specialist area to further enhance awareness and opportunities for evidence-based patient care.

Essential Criteria

  • Registered Children's Nurse
  • First-level degree/Diploma in Paediatric Nursing, Specialist Practitioner degree or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Advanced Communications Skills Training or prepared to work towards

  • Prescribing qualification or willingness to complete
  • Recognised teaching qualification or prepared to work towards
