The Patient Safety team at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled individual to fill the role of Patient Safety Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the national patient safety strategy and a proven track record in delivering quality improvements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that systems and processes are in place to monitor patient safety, with a focus on learning from incidents and responding to national safety alerts.

The role will also involve the delivery of the Trust's patient safety and quality priorities, as well as promoting a safety culture that emphasizes learning and shared learning.

The post-holder will work closely with the Head of Risk and Patient Safety to develop and implement strategies for improving patient safety, and will be responsible for the collection and analysis of complex information from various sources.

The Patient Safety Manager will also support Care Groups in patient safety improvement activities, with the aim of proactively reducing risks to patient safety and unanticipated adverse events.

The role requires excellent team and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence and encourage staff to work towards enhancing patient safety.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Experience of working within the acute sector of the NHS
  • Experience of quality, safety and governance working in a complex organisation

Qualifications

  • Post graduate degree diploma level or equivalent or a related subject and/or relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement Methodologies
