About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our Component Engineering Base Engine Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions for our engine components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop engine components, including major aluminium and cast iron castings, geartrain, valvetrain, drivetrain, and in-cylinder components.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure design solutions meet customer, durability, and functional requirements.
  • Determine root cause and develop solutions for complex issues arising from the Quality and Manufacturing environments.
  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers to ensure design solutions are aligned to high quality and cost expectations.
  • Plan and manage project and sub-project deliverables, with the ability to lead and coach less experienced engineers.
  • Conduct risk assessments through effective FMEA generation on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs.
  • Maintain communication with peers, team leader, and stakeholders on progress against planned activities.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in design and development of engine components, with a strong understanding of IC engines.
  • Knowledge of CAD software, including CREO4, and experience with Team Centre or similar data management software.
  • Experience with FMEA, component and engine validation and verification, and APQP methodology.
  • Strong technical background, with a degree in mechanical or automotive engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate and manage interactions with external suppliers.
